Mom in Progress

I am beginning to feel like a wife/mom! I finally crafted something!! At our school, the business majors have a semester where they have to run a business for the semester. One of them is called "Home Interest" this semester. They had an example of family blocks that we could do, but we could do any letters we wanted, soooo...the baby's name fit perfectly with the number of blocks! It turned out so great! I got to pick out the colors of the paper and did everything myself (except for making the vinyl lettering--I told them the letters I wanted and they did it)! They had the PERFECT ribbon for us to use too since we are doing a monkey theme! Monkey See Monkey Do! haha! I am quite proud of my little mommy-craft-project. :D Had to share how cute it turned out! We will put them on a shelf in the baby's room!

It's a BOY!

I feel like it's taken FOREVER for this day to come! I went to the doctor when I was at 17 weeks and tried to beg him to let me see the gender. He refused! All I was going to get was the baby's heart beat. I thought, THAT'S IT? For a 50 dollar appointment, I expected more. He said, well, we won't be able to see much at this point, it'd be a waste of your money. In another month or so, we will have you come back in and we will get to see and measure everything. My thoughts: A MONTH!? I started to tear up at the thought that I wouldn't get to see my baby for a WHOLE MONTH! The last time I saw him was at 11 weeks. He asked me, is that ok? I bluntly said NO! I want to see my baby! I think I started to scare him and so he said, okay okay! We can't have and upset pregnant lady. We will do an ultrasound just for fun. Sooo...I that held me over until my 20 week appointment.
At the 20 week ultrasound, the baby was turned away as well as breech. Which made it really difficult to take a peek at the gender. (He said it is still normal at this point for the baby to flip back and forth from normal to breech position) The first picture was hard to tell which made me really scared that we weren't going to get to find out at this appointment. I had been look forward to this and loosing sleep over it! I was NOT going to leave empty handed! -I am becoming less and less pleased with my doctor anyway because he has seemed kinda careless the last couple of appointments...like he was just there to do his job. The first appointment was great! He seemed really excited and was even offering me to give him calls at 3am if needed! I thought what a great doctor!...not so much anymore!-
ANYWAY!!! He pushed even harder with the ultrasound thingy and probed around some more until we saw the DEFINITE sign of being a boy! I think Tyler was really shocked. I was just SO relieved to KNOW FINALLY!!! I was so excited to get to start shopping! But then I was told not to get any big stuff yet until I have my baby shower. I see wisdom in that. But it is SO hard when I have a room just WAITING to get fixed up.
---------------------------------------------
We also start our birthing classes next month! I am SUPER excited for that! I think I will feel so much better to have a better education about the birthing process. I feel prepared with my knowledge on my child's development, but not on birthing. I know it will be such a spiritual experience and that it will bring me an my husband to whole other level. It's going to be great! I am loving where I am in life. I am feeling SO TRULY blessed!
I also went to my friend's baby blessing today. That got me excited too! To just imagine Tyler up there blessing our baby boy. I will admit, I teared up a bit. I hear that time goes by faster from now on. I hope that's true! :)

Christmas Festivities!

This was our first Christmas together as a married couple. I spent Christmas with his family last year too, but this one we had our own place to get to decorate and stuff! It was so fun! We got our tree and lights and ornaments and candy canes. Putting up and decorating the tree is my favorite thing to do for Christmas. So Tyler patiently handed me each and every ornament and let me decorate it. :)
My grandma gave me a Precious Moments Nativity Scene last year and I was so excited to have it to put under the tree! We also got stockings! That was fun. In my family all of our stocking stuffers get individually wrapped, that was a new tradition to Tyler. We had to take our tree down before Christmas though because we moved out and into a new apartment on the 26th. We left on the 23rd to visit family in Boise. We had QUITE and eventful weekend! We made red and green pancakes. My mother-in-law got engaged! And we announced my pregnancy to his family. It was a very memorable Christmas! Hard to think that by Christmas this year we will have a little one with us for the ride!
Until something exciting happens again!

Thanksgiving!!! Turkey...fail.

Potatoes and Stuffing
This Thanksgiving was the first we've been without family. Work only allows us to take off EITHER Thanksgiving or Christmas. So we had one of my best friends, Virginia and her husband and brother-in-law over and another couple we know from work. We started cooking our Turkey around 12/12:30 ish. I think our oven is crap cause it got to be about 7 and the dang Turkey STILL wasn't cooked. We tried detaching the legs earlier and letting out some of the juice...still never cooked...we gave up and just ate the rest of the food. We had mashed potatoes, macaroni salad, deviled eggs, olives, stuffing, veggies, ROLLS *which looked like little butts and so I just HAD to take a picture of them!*

and pumpkin pie..I think it sufficed. :) We played games for a couple hours and then we watched two movies...Fried Green Tomatoes and Shallow Hal.
HA! It was fun though. :) Definitely a memory to remember. :D
Grazing food leading up to Dinner.

Aly nice and comfy on the couch

Trying a fishtail braid on VA

Austin (VA's brother in law) pretending to be asleep

Our Turkey after 7 hours..not cool.

We gave up...

We still had food and fun and ended the night happy! :D

Halloween!

Date Night In I.F.

So we wanted to go on a nice, fun date and we've pretty much done everything in Rexburg. ...This was a couple of weeks ago by the way....Soooo we decided to go to Idaho Falls! What should we do there!? There are SO many things to do there! What we really wanted was some REALLY good food...not the junk they have here in Rexburg...we decided on Olive Garden. Then we thought, Hey! While we are there we should go to the temple!

We got ready to go to the temple. We listened to the BYU I radio station, talked about the things we would like to be pondering while at the temple...and then our radio station got all fuzzy. I guess we were too far from Rexburg! So in my mind I am thinking, we can't listen to regular music on the way to the temple, and I HATE driving anywhere without music...so I made due with the classical station. When I got to that station, I was actually quite pleased to hear a song that was Irish, yet classical at the same time....this might not seem so important to you, but having good, appropriate music on the way to the temple is a MUST for me. We had a great sealing session there. I loved it!
Mmmmm My food!! I was pretty full already from salad and bread sticks...kills me every time!

Our lovely drinks
Then we went to Olive Garden! We had a great Waiter. I got lasanga rolls which were nice and cheesy! They were sooo good!! Tyler got Chicken Fetuccini (but I think he secretly envied my choice). He said he wanted to get what I got for next time. We also got dessert, but I ate mine too fast to get a picture of it. But trust me when I say it was delicious! (:
Having quality time together is very important to us, and this was our first big "splurge date" we had, and it was a blast. We are so blessed. Heavenly Father has definitely been listening to our prayers and has been watching out for us.

How was my week?

This week was so crazy and so stressful! I had a final to take almost every day! The only day I didn't have one was on Friday. This was my pile of books from the library.

I also spent most of the week doing white glove checks for the dorms. Today we finished checking out all of the girls from their rooms and did our final walk through. I collected most of the cleaning supplies they left, I got an ironing board, and iron, and a duster! All of it for FREE!!!
But I am SO glad it's over! I am sooo tired! So is Tyler. He started working at D.I. this week, full time. He is doing physical work all day long. Moving furniture and stuff. He comes home exhausted! :) But we are so blessed to have gotten this job. I will be starting up with D.I. soon too! So we will both be working full time. Yay! :D
